Squirrel Hunt 2017

Jayla Cody, Writer

CHS BETA is hosting a Squirrel Hunting Competition that will be held Saturday, January 14th, 2017.  The date is to be determined. You can hunt in pairs or by yourself.  If you’re doing it alone, it will be $15 to enter, and $25 for a pair.  Winners will be determined by the number of squirrels brought to check in. The check in location will be beside the Pottery Shop.  If there is a tie, they will weigh them and determine the winner from the highest weight.  First place in each category will receive 35% of the competition earnings.  Second place in each category will receive 15% of the competition earnings.  All hunters must complete a registration form either before or the day of the hunt.  There will be a prize for the biggest and most exotic squirrel.  All hunters MUST have a valid hunting license at check in.  Squirrels  may not be hunted with rifles or pistols larger than .22 caliber rimfire or with muzzleloaders larger than .40 caliber unless a modern gun or muzzleloading deer season, bear season, or coyote season is open.  Squirrels may not be hunted with shotguns using rifled slugs or shot larger than T shot.
