The Clinton baseball team did just what they wanted, and as their head coach Robert Prince says, “put the hay in the barn”. The Jackets played like the one seed they were given to start the tournament, and no one could keep up. After beating Green Forest in the opening game of the tournament by 14, the Jackets squished out Mtn. View’s hopes of a district title, and came away with a 7-1 win behind a strong pitching performance by Bryce Dodd. Dodd had 9+ strike outs. The return of the Jackets ace pitcher Ty Johnson seemed to spark the Jackets who breezed by the Valley Springs Tigers in the district finals with a score of 15-0. Not only did this game give the Jackets a District Championship, but also awarded them the 1 seed heading into this week’s regional tournament. This accomplishment was the first of three goals for the YellowJackets set for this year.  It also gave them their 25th win on the year. The next goal they have in mind starts this Thursday at 10 am when they lead off their regionals with Piggot in Manila, Arkansas. A win will give your hometown Jackets a birth to the state tournament for the second straight year and send them to the semi finals Friday at 12:30.
