The CHS Foods and Nutrition class has spent the last few weeks preparing for the Make It A Meal with Soup Contest that was sponsored by the Van Buren County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee. The students had to create a balanced meal with at least one ingredient that is grown/raised in Arkansas. Their meal had to follow the MyPlate guidelines and contain a soup, salad, and bread. In 1st place Khristina Huff and Paige Martin’s “Pickin with Chicken Soup” won the award of $20. In 2nd place, Rachel Dawson and Jessica Smith’s “Canadian Bacon Potato Soup” won the award of $15. Followed up in 3rd place was Haley Jones, Katrina Huff, and Rebecca Lewis with their “Old Fashioned Beef and Vegetable Soup” with the award of $10.
