For at least the 4th year in a row the Clinton Lady Jackets are heading to regionals. The Lady Jackets breezed by Marshall in the first round of the district tournament with a very lopsided score of 14-0 in 5 innings. Then in the semi-finals the Lady Jackets used some late game magic to beat the Melbourne Bearcats 7-3 in 7 innings to send themselves to the finals Friday night. The Lady Jackets built an early 3-0 lead but couldn’t hold onto it as the Lady Bearcats scored 3 runs in the top of the 4th. Back to back clutch singles in the bottom of the 6th gave the Jackets new life. The first an RBI single by senior shortstop Daly Dufrene broke the tie. Next batter freshman Livie Dufrene punched a 2 run single up the middle to give the jackets a 6-3 lead. Natalie Alexander added an RBI double later in the inning to add some cushion to the Jackets lead. In the top of the 7th Junior pitcher Tori Bradford retired three straight batters to seal the deal and end the game.  The Lady Jackets will play in the finals Friday.  Due to weather the time will be announced at a later date.
