Last night the Clinton Lady Yellow Jackets upset the reigning state champions, and current #1 ranked team, to make it to the finals in district! They kept it a close game throughout and fouled 3 of their starters out halfway through the 4th quarter. Defense was key in the win with all players stepping up making big defensive plays, the quickness of Daley Dufrene was essential on defense.  Kaitlin Kirkendoll, one of the leading scorers and biggest defensive threats, fouled out early in the 4th quarter. The team picked up for the loss of Kirkendoll, with Lexie Smith and Kiaura Balentine adding a defensive presence! Allie Hensley, the two time All State player, was the leading scorer with 27 points.  Free throws became important down the stretch with Allie Hensley, Taylor Huggins, Lexie Smith, and Alyssa McKnight making clutch free throws as the game drew to an end.  Through a team effort the Lady Jackets ended up with a 3 point win.  The Lady Jackets will play on Saturday at 7 in the Championship game against Mountain View.
