Senior High Basketball Rolling Through Season

Senior High Basketball Rolling Through Season

Brittany Shannon and Bryce Dodd

Last night the Lady Jackets faced up against the Pottsville Lady Apaches. The Jackets started off with the first point of the night with a free throw and then the Apaches proceeded to go on a 5-1 run to begin the first period. The Lady Apaches held the lead for the entire game. They handed the Lady Jackets their first loss of the year.

After this tough loss, the Lady Jackets will head out to Lamar to play in their homecoming game. They have already defeated this team in Yellowjacket Arena this season but it will be a tough game in their home gym.

Next Tuesday will be the last game before district tournament starts and it is also Senior Night for the YellowJackets. They will play Two Rivers who the Lady Jackets have already defeated this season as well. The Lady Jackets are very likely to come out with this win.

Yesterday the Yellow Jackets senior boys played Pottsville at home. They had great vengeance since the last time Pottsville played them they beat us 30+ points. There was a great crowd in attendance and the home side was almost completely filled up from people coming out to support the Yellow Jackets. As soon as the tip was thrown the Yellow Jackets came out ready to play. They had a steady lead for almost the entire 1st quarter. During the 2nd quarter however Pottsville came back and tied the game up. With a hot run from Pottsville with 2 Minutes left in the first half they went ahead by 10. A halftime score of 30-40 with Pottsville on top. Coming out in the 3rd and the beginning of the 4th quarter the score stayed the same of around 10 points. With some big shots and turnovers caused by the Yellow Jackets, they came back and cut the score to within 4. Pottsville held on though to a steady lead all through the end of the game with an ending score of 69-74 with the Apaches coming out on top. The boys last home game is next Tuesday and also senior night so come out and support your CHS senior boys!
