Miss Natural State Pageant

On Saturday, January 14th, at the Clinton School District auditorium, the competition for Miss Natural State and Miss Natural State’s Outstanding Teen was held at 6:00 pm. Doors opened at 5:15 for $10 general admission, and $5 for any Clinton student or staff member. There were approximately 30 contestants from all over the state competing. The categories that were judged consisted of private interview, onstage question, lifestyle/fitness, talent, and evening gown. Special entertainment for the event was fantastic; Caitlin Cook, who is a 2 time overall talent winner at Miss Arkansas, performed a song, Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen Emily Brewer danced, Jennifer Knottenkamper, a skilled majorette and 2 time Miss Arkansas contestant twirled, Isabella Baughn, Miss Natural State’s Outstanding Teen also sang, and J. Rod, an exceptional singer/performer showcased his skills as well. The winners got thousands of dollars of scholarship money and will compete for Miss Arkansas and Miss Arkansas’ Outstanding Teen this summer in Little Rock at the Robinson Center. Judges came from all across the region. They were each trained to choose a winner that would make the state proud. Sandon Williams, executive director, and board of directors, including Ms. Emily Rains, CHS English teacher, worked very hard to plan an exciting and entertaining show. The winners have the potential to become Miss America just like Arkansas’ own current Miss America, Savvy Shields. Winners are Clinton’s own Brooke Bradford, Freshman at CHS, who beat 19 other contestants, and Alexis Sanders, a Conway native and Senior at UCA, who won out of 9 contestants.
