CHS Boys Basketball Play in Christmas Tournament

Ty Johnson

Over this past Christmas break, the senior boys basketball team traveled to Heber Springs to play in their Christmas Classic. In the first round the boys had a tough 6a matchup against Sheridan. Clinton took a 5 point lead at the half, but struggled most of the 3rd quarter and was down 4 heading into the 4th quarter. Down by 1 with 2 seconds to go in the game Avery Bramlett stole the inbounds pass from Sheridan and made the bucket at the buzzer for the win!
In the next round Clinton got what had been wanting all year, a chance to play Heber. The game was close for the first 3 quarters, but then the Clinton boys stepped up in the 4th quarter and ended up winning by 7.
The last game was the championship where they would have to play Green County Tech, a tough 5a team with tons of talent. Green County played lights out the entire game shooting 88% from the 3 point line. Clinton somehow made a excellent run to cut the lead to 6 in the 3rd quarter, but then Green County Tech got hot again and pushed the lead out of reach.
