CHS’s Special Olympics Team completed their season on April 3rd! The students practiced for the events in Mrs. Taylor’s learning skills class.

On October 29th, 2018 the Special Olympics Team went to Professor Bowl in Little Rock where they participated in team competition. The age bracket is based on the age of the oldest team member. Here are the results!

Mixed Team 16-21: First Place Ryan Westfall, Mary Martin, Mackenzie Cotton, and Jamal Farrell

Girls Team 16-21: First Place Tara Slayton, Sammy McJunkins, Taylor Howell, and Vivian Bradford

Boys Team 16-21: Fourth Place Christian Monroe, Brandon Bradley, Andrew Warford, and Ely Etheridge

They also participated in a basketball skill competitions where several students did well. Awards are based on basketball skills: ten meter dribble, target pass, and shot put. Students are grouped by age and ability.

Silver: Mary Martin

Bronze: Taylor Howell, Tara Slayton, Ely Etheridge

Fourth Place: Vivian Bradford

Sixth Place: Mackenzie Cotton

The students had another great day on April 3, 2019 at the their track and field competitions!

Boys 50 Meter Run ages 12-15: Ely Etheridge Silver and Andrew Warford Bronze

Boys 50 Meter Run ages 16-21: Brandon Bradley Bronze and Christian Monroe 5th place

Boys 100 Meter Run ages 12-15: Ely Etheridge Gold and Andrew Warford Bronze

Boys 100 Meter Run ages 16-21: Ryan Westfall Bronze, Brandon Bradley 5th place, Christian Monroe 6th place

Boys 200 Meter Run: Ryan Westfall Silver

Girls Relay all ages: Mackenzie Cotton, Tara Slayton, Vivian Bradford, Mary Martin- Silver

Girls Running Long Jump 16-21: Mackenzie Cotton Gold, Vivian Bradford Silver, Mary Martin Bronze

Girls Standing Long Jump 16-21: Tara Slayton Silver
