CHS Track

CHS Track is geared up and excited about a successful season.  When asked about how practices are going Coach Wilson said, “Chaotic”. Due to weather conditions, practices are cancelled as well as meets. The track team has definitely gotten a late start to the season. Compared to other teams at meets, Clinton isn’t quite as prepared, but we are proud to say that the obstacles haven’t stopped our boys 4 by 400 meter relay team. The boys have already qualified for state according to their times ran at the first meet of the season! The determination in these boys will keep them striving for even bigger accomplishments like the meet of champs this year. When asked about Coach’s expectations this year he said, “2-3 state champions, and colleges taking notice of Clinton’s athletes.” For the past three years track athletes at CHS have gained the state champion title. The late start doesn’t define this track team, but the determination does. The weather has definitely settled down which means that the practices have been back on track. The track meet schedule looks a bit different this year. When asked about the challenging meets this year coach responded “Yes, two new places I have never been, Joe T Robinson and Batesville. Over 20 schools competing mostly, 5A and up, which makes it challenging. These schools push us to do better.” Success in track can be very controversial. Track is about improvement, patience, and gaining a better understanding of your event. The CHS Track team is working hard in all of these areas to accomplish their goals.
