Aaron Hogue, Writer

The season is quickly approaching for the 2019 Clinton Yellowjackets’ Baseball team. Their first game is set for March 1 at 4A Berryville High School. Clinton won the last 2 meetings with Berryville in 2016. The Jackets are coming off a 25-7 season that made it to the second round of the 3A State Tournament. Clinton finished ranked 37th in the state of Arkansas 1A-7A. The Jackets have an overall record of 72-23 over the last 3 seasons. Along with a Harrison Tournament Championship(17), Dover Tournament Championship(18), 2 District Championships(17,18), Regional Runner-Up(16), and a Regional Championship(18).

The Jackets have a lot of places to fill after losing 7 starters to graduation.Clinton has 9 returning players from the 2018 roster. With 3 seniors and 3 juniors returning and an additional 2 seniors joining back after not going out the previous season. Clinton baseball expects nothing less than the excellence they have experienced the last 3 seasons. The Yellowjackets will look to the 2 returning starters from the previous season seniors Ryley McDonald and Aaron Hogue to lead the team. Clinton baseball will be in a new conference this year 3A Region 1 East. This conference will consist of Bergman, Green Forest, Marshall, Mountain View, Rose Bud, and Valley Springs. Clinton will host the 2019 3A Region 1 East District Tournament April 22-26.

Mark your calendar for March 1 and make the trek up 65 to Berryville to come watch your boys open up the season. Clinton’s home opener will be March 5 against Marshall. Go Jackets!!
