Round 1 Playoffs: CHS VS Centerpoint Knights

Nate Lonnon and Paige Bryant

The Clinton Yellowjackets suffered a tough loss to the Centerpoint Knights last Friday night, November 11th. Clinton played with heart all game, fighting until the last second but coming up just short. Kort Weaver, Jake Ferrell, and Wyatt McCoy did everything they possibly could have done with 249 all purpose yards together. Weaver threw a touchdown pass to Jake Ferrell followed by Johnathan Ochoa making the extra point making the only 7 points the Yellowjackets received that night. Bradley Amos had one interception and a couple of tackles and ended the season with 4 interceptions. He was named a team leader. Danny Bittle had 8 tackles against the Knights and ended the season with 95 tackles total, 24 tackles for loss, and 7 sacks, making him a team leader in all three categories. Gunnar Ward had multiple big stops on the season, trying to keep his status up for the 3a superteam that he was chosen for at the beginning of the season. The Yellowjackets will start off-season soon in preparation for this summer and next season. They want to thank all of their supporters and fans who have traveled many miles just to watch them play the game they love most. From the beginning of summer to the chilly fall nights, the fans are the backbone of the team. We couldn’t thank everyone enough and we really hope to see everyone next year.
