SEARCY, Ark.– Sky Davidson rushed for over 200 yards and 4 touchdowns to lead the undefeated Yellowjackets to a 4-0 record.

At the end of the 1st quarter things were all knotted up at two touchdowns apiece. Both offenses had been scoring at will. The game seemed to be headed for a shootout until the Jackets defense stepped up to start the second quarter, and held Harding Academy scoreless until the 4th. For what was one of the most anticipated games of the week, soon turned into another blowout Clinton win.

From the first play of scrimmage when QB Weston Amos connected with Austin Drake for a 45 yard touchdown pass the offense was on. Clinton racked up 485 total yards of offense, 431 of them coming on the ground.

Coach Dufrene gave all the credit to the offensive line in an interview with the Democrat Gazette. “The offensive line, they were big tonight. We ran behind them boys. They got after it. I loved it.”

The Jackets whole offensive line was credited with The Farm Bureau Insurance Player(s) of the game. They created gaping holes for the backs all night. Friday’s huge win was by far their best outing this year.

Senior Caleb Bowman carried the ball 15 times for 122 yards and a touchdown. Davidson was given the ball 20 times for 206 yards and 4 touchdowns. Amos had 7 carries for 52 yards and 1 TD.

The Jackets scored on every possession of the game, except for one possession late in the 4th when QB Weston Amos was out due to a hurt ankle. Amos expects to play this Friday and was a full participant in practice this week.

Clinton’s defense stepped up huge after allowing 14 first quarter points. Bowman led the charge with 14 tackles, Austin Drake had 9, Bagley had 8, and Dowell/Davidson both totalled 7 on the night.

The Takeaway

Clinton came into the game wanting to make a statement, and they made it loud and clear with a 49-27 win at HA. They proved without a doubt they belong in the talk as a title contender. The Jackets stayed put in the statewide rankings after the win, and will enter week 5 as the number 2 team in the state. They are only behind football powerhouse Booneville. This coming Friday your Jackets will travel to Melbourne, Arkansas, to face the Bearcats. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
