Black and Gold Game Highlights

Sticky days in the middle of August are the greatest days for football. This year is going to be a very exciting year in football. Clinton is starting the season ranked 3rd in Hootens 3A returning many starters on both sides of the ball. Returning for this season are senior leaders, All-State Sky Davidson (RB,MLB) and All-State Caleb Bowman (MLB,FB) and several All Conference junior leaders Court Bagley, Weston Amos, Ethen Drake, Austin Drake, John Riley Hinchey, and Kelley Collins.

The Black and Gold Game started off with the 80 yard breakaway TD for the white team by Ethen Drake, using his speed as he did last year finding the open field and alluding defenders.  The teams battled back and forth until the first touchdown for the black squad was made by the opposing twin Austin Drake on a 35 yard pass from Weston Amos. Weston and Austin resuming their chemistry they had last year making 3 of 4 connections.  As the game went on, the Black team took over with a pick-6 from Jacob Hagerman who has been showing promise for the yellowjackets at safety and wide receiver. Combined with plenty of aggressive runs from Bowman to finish off the drives, the black team triumphed over the white team. A big thanks to all who came, and brought gatorade to support the football team.

CHS Cheer had a great start to the football season. They had worked hard throughout the summer with practices, stunt clinics, and home camps. It really showed at the black and gold game Tuesday. The team has a total of fourteen teammates this year. Your juniors, Lauren Wells, Livie Dufrene, Tania Armas, Aly Graddy, Emma Coward, Marilyn Epley, Courtney Webb. Your sophomores, Haven Stoltzfus, Natalie Oneal, Ava Koonce, Kenneth Strickland, Mckenna Yates, and Caitlin Sowel. And their Manager, Katelyn Prosser. Their Coach Ms. Rains, “ My expectations of this team are to represent the school in an influential way to be involved in school sports, and to be supportive to the teams in every way possible.”  They are also taking on the year with a new assistant coach, Mrs. Williams. So, expect your CHS Cheer to bring their all on the sidelines this year!

Tonight the Yellowjackets travel to battle the Pottsville Apaches (4-4A) in their seasonal scrimmage. Both teams are looking to start the season off right.
