Breast Cancer Can it Happen to You?

Studies show 1 out of every 8 women (approx. 12%) will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. Breast cancer is ignited when the cells in the breast begin to grow out of control. These cells most commonly form a tumor, and one can usually feel a lump wherever the affected area may be on the breast. This abnormal growth will most usually occur in the cells of the lobules, the milk producing glands. There are many factors that weigh into breast cancer, but eating a balanced diet, maintaining a healthy diet, limiting alcohol and smoking, and exercising on a regular basis can help reduce your chance. Despite practicing these healthy habits, there is unfortunately still no guarantee you will not develop breast cancer due to the fact that it is always caused by a genetic abnormality. Prevention and early detection are both helpful in the fight against breast cancer.  The best thing you can do is research the symptoms to know the warning signs, and help bring awareness to the subject!
