“Among Us,” Educational or Entertainment???
Are you looking for a game that is entertaining yet still has educational qualities? Among Us is an online multiplayer game published by InnerSloth on June 15, 2018, but has just recently become very popular among teens. This game teaches you how to be a problem solver and debate against other online players and even your close friends. By completing tasks, such as fixing wires or resetting oxygen levels, players can build their problem solving abilities. Among Us can also teach its players responsibility and accountability. In the game, if you are a crewmate, you must complete all of your tasks or your team cannot win. This allows the imposter(s) to win. You must order a meeting to vote and think quickly in order to lead your team to victory. After calling a meeting, you must use the process of elimination to defeat the correct imposter. Don’t worry, this game is not just about education. It still has some fun qualities too! People have compared it to a modern day “Clue”. Before actually starting the game, players are able to show their personalities through the color of their character and the accessories they choose to add. Whenever the game has reached its 4-10 player capacity and the host begins the game, it is revealed to you whether you are a crewmate or an imposter……. Du du duuuuuuu! If you are a crewmate, you must go to different parts of the map to complete tasks while trying to avoid being eliminated by the imposter. Once a body has been reported or an emergency meeting has been called, all players are sent into a chat room where everyone debates and discusses to solve the mystery and catch the imposter. The game continues until the crewmates find all imposters (up to 3) or the imposter(s) defeat all crewmates. After each game, you watch a short ad and you can continue to play!
