Boot Scootin’ Boogie
For the majority of the population, Labor Day is a holiday synonymous with rest, relaxation, and a whole lot of nothing. However, here in Clinton, our Labor Day celebration means something entirely different. It means that for 10 days, our small town will double in size to welcome chuckwagon racers and fans to the event that puts us on the map. What started 34 years ago as a small get-together for the Eoffs to enjoy Labor Day with their family and friends has evolved into the world’s largest chuckwagon race, with an estimated 20-30,000 people and 5,000 equines in attendance yearly. As the National Championship Chuckwagon Races have developed and changed over the years, a multitude of different competitions and events have been added. Attendees can expect bronc fanning, mule races, the iconic Snowy River Race, trail riding, bull riding, and the Classics, the races that started it all. It also includes food vendors, concerts, local artisans, non-denominational church services, dances, and fans from all 50 states. Blood, sweat, tears, and plenty of Keck’s root beer are to be expected at the Bar -of Ranch over the course of this 10 day event. Crashes, mishaps, winners, losers, and everything in between make this event what it’s known for. Dust off your boots and make sure your hat fits just right; chuckwagon season is almost upon us!
